Civitan Apartments
The Civitan Apartments offer affordable housing for the elderly
(at least age 62) and those with developmental disabilities. The property is HUD
subsidized and the Benton Public Housing Authority sets the rental criteria and
does intake evaluations. The apartment complex, located on Bird Street in Benton,
has 23 one-bedroom apartments that each have a den, kitchen, bedroom, bath and a
window with an outside view. A Resident Manager lives on site to oversee the property.
Each apartment is equipped with a pull cord that rings in the manager’s apartment
and in common areas of the building should a resident have an emergency. Apartment
doors open to an interior hallway that is well lit and have 24-hour video surveillance.
Transportation is provided on a daily basis to and from classes
at Civitan Services for those who qualify. SCAT provides transportation to/from
the Senior Adult Center, to doctor appointments, to local stores, etc.
