Benton Junior High School
How Did the Club Start at Benton Junior High?

The Peer Leadership class began volunteering at the Civitan Center once a week in the spring of 2008. The class was led by teacher, Suzy Carter. Mrs. Carter learned about the Junior Civitan Club already going at Benton Middle School and asked if there was a plan to grow the club to the Junior High. Our answer was an excited "Yes!" and soon the ball was rolling toward chartering the second Junior Civitan Club in Benton.
The officers for the new club were chosen from essays students in the 2008-2009 peer leadership class had written and soon many others signed up to be a part of the club.
The Benton Junior High Junior Civitan Club chartered on October 28, 2008 with over 30 members from the eighth and ninth grades. The club was led by officer´s from the Peer Leadership class at BJHS.
While there is no longer a Peer Leadership class at BJHS, there is a very strong community service club. The Club continues to grow and bring positive change in our community. Sign up today to give back to our community!

Plus, these opportunities give Junior Civitans a chance to network with the professionals in Civitan Clubs.
Committed to Community
Community Service is not just a part of Junior Civitan, it drives our efforts and provides opportunities to get involved and meet new people. 15,000 Junior Civitans serve in communities all across North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Projects can include turning an abandoned lot into a playground, buying presents for a needy family at Christmas, or reading to at-risk children. When we take the step from ideas to actions, our efforts can change the world!
Junior Civitan Creed
I am a Junior Civitan:
An aware citizen of today,
The standing promise of tomorrow.
I seek to meet the needs of our world,
To be progressive in a world of change
With compassion and understanding for
The values and traditions of the past.
I value the security of knowing
That wherever I am
I will always be within reach
Of a fellow Civitan.
I dedicate myself
To society and to my fellow man
With a commitment
To make the world a better place.
