Civitan's Residential program offers two living options that provide a healthy, safe and family-oriented environment for the tenants. While the privacy and independence of each resident is always respected, there are planned activities and events throughout the year that encourage social interaction and help to develop hobbies and personal interests.

Civitan Apartments
Civitan Apartments offer affordable housing for the elderly and those with developmental disabilities. The apartment complex, located on Bird Street in Benton, has 23 single occupancy apartments and have a den, kitchen, bedroom, bath and a window with an outside view. A Resident Manager lives on site to oversee the property and care for the needs of the residents. Each apartment is equipped with a pull cord that rings in the manager’s apartment and in common areas of the building should a resident have an emergency. Apartment entrances open into an interior hallway that is well lit and secured during evening hours. A strict covenant for the apartment complex exists and is enforced for the safety, well-being and protection of all tenants. Nutritious meals, provided by Saline Memorial Hospital, are served each day for tenants to enjoy, and transportation is provided on a daily basis to and from classes at Civitan Services.

Group Home
Civitan's Group Home, located on Hudson Street in Benton, is a semi-independent HUD subsidized home with twelve, single occupancy bedrooms. Our Residential Services Director lives on-site with his family to care for the needs of the tenants. Residents of the Civitan Group Home function as a family, loving, caring for, and serving one another. Throughout the week, staff at the home work with each resident to develop skills learned in the Adult Day program, and the many recreational activities are used as an opportunity to teach valuable skills in money management, shopping, and general socialization. As it is with each of Civitan's service areas, the Residential Services Director has access to Streamline IMS, Civitan’s customized software program. This technology allows those spending time with an individual after hours and on the weekend to document information that may affect the clients’ Individual Habilitation Plan. An on-call nurse is provided for resident care and counseling sessions are available for those who are in need of these services. These services are provided in a continuing effort to care for the well-being of the whole person, both physically and mentally.

Civitan Residential Services has been a successful program for many years. Our residents are happy, well adjusted and enjoy a quality of life that is rare in supervised living arrangements.
